Bergfeld Park is centrally located off Broadway Avenue and College Avenue, between Fourth and Fifth Streets. This neighborhood park offers picnic areas, restrooms, tennis courts, playground, an amphitheater, and “Splasher” the Dolphin Fountain spray ground.

More than 3,000 individual animals from over 200 species live at the zoo. Each habitat is custom-built to provide a safe and comfortable home for its occupants. Many of the species at the Caldwell Zoo are endangered or threatened in the wild. Giving these animals a safe environment while helping to maintain the genetic diversity of the species are two of the zoo’s highest priorities. Visit the largest Confederate prisoner camp west of the Mississippi River. Featuring a kiosk, paved trail, and information signs along the trail. This site is located at 6500 US-271. It is open daily from dawn until dusk and the admission is free.
The Cascades Club golf course, re-designed by PGA Tour player Mark Hayes provides a fun experience for players at any skill level, features an immaculately groomed 18-hole championship facility. Lush, tour-quality greens and broad fairways wind among tall oak and pine trees, with many holes set alongside scenic lakes on the golf course. The temperate East Texas climate makes this a yearlong course, and four sets of tees and strategic bunkering makes The Cascades Club a fun but challenging test of golf for every player. The course is rated at 74.2 with a slope rating of 137 from the back tees and measures 6,944 yards, providing excitement throughout your round. Water comes into play on ten of the eighteen holes and there are over 50 well-positioned bunkers throughout the course. Douglas Park is located adjacent to the Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital between Beckham and Front Street. Tyler Parks and Recreation partnered with Tiny Evie Rocks for a new display. This mental health enhancement includes a large heart-shaped walking labyrinth as well as several heart rocks throughout the park with kind messages.

This neighborhood park features picnic areas, restrooms, pavilion, playground and newly renovated basketball court. Hillside Park is located on Erwin Street, east of downtown Tyler. The park features picnic areas, restrooms, pavilions, soccer fields, playgrounds, basketball and multipurpose courts. The playground was renovated in 2019 to feature a beautiful Art Wall painted by local artists and brand new playground equipment including an enormous concrete slide.

Welcome to Lake Tyler!View from a waterside park at Lake Tyler in East Texas Lake Tyler (or Lake Tyler West) and Lake Tyler East are located adjacent to each other, connected via a canal. Situated just east of Tyler, Texas, these are the largest lakes in the area in addition to Lake Palestine. Ownership by the City of Tyler Lake Tyler functions as a major recreational center for the area, and as a supply of drinking water for the City of Tyler. The Lake Tyler Department of the City of Tyler maintains the park areas adjacent to the lake. The rules and regulations for Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East are outlined in Chapter 19, Article VI of the City of Tyler Code of Ordinances. Characteristics of the LakesLake Tyler (West), built in 1949, covers 2,224 surface acres and serves as the major source of water supply to the Tyler metro area. Lake Tyler (East), completed in 1966, covers an additional 2,276 acres. The maximum depth of the lakes is 40 feet, and the average depth is about 17.6 feet. The conservation pool elevation is 375 feet above mean sea level. Fluctuation is about 2 feet.

Legacy Trail, officially opened in July 2019, is the newest trail to the City of Tyler. The 4.5 mile trail is 10 foot wide concrete and runs on the eastern and western sides of Old Jacksonville Highway, running Toll 49 and continuing toward Flint. The trail is situated on the Old Cotton Belt train route which was instrumental in the growth of East Texas. Future plans for this trail include a possible extension northward to the South Tyler Trails linking Rose Rudman Recreational Trail. Open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. The trail begins off of W. Cumberland near Faulkner Park across from Cherryhill Drive with a trail head located at the entrance to Three Lakes Parkway off of Old Jacksonville Highway, south of FRESH by Brookshires. Following the trial from this point southwest will lead you past Toll 49 towards Flint.

The 82-acre Nature Center was developed from a former game bird hatchery into an ecological education center. A visitor's center, indoor and outdoor classrooms, wetlands, grasslands and ponds provide a natural setting for area birds and animals. The facility and surrounding lands are available for use by instructors or other outdoor enthusiasts. Noble E. Young Skate Park was dedicated by the Tyler City Council and Tyler Parks & Recreation Board on October 24, 1998. Since its opening the skate park has been one of Tyler’s most popular parks. The park is a favorite place for local skaters, as well as skaters from across the East Texas region and the state.
Located off of WNW Loop 323. This park includes Model Airplane Fields for use by the public.
Oak Grove Park is located in northeast Tyler at the intersection of North Carlyle Avenue and East Vance Street, next to Douglas Elementary School. This neighborhood park features picnic areas, playground, basketball court and tennis court.
The Oak Hurst course was designed by famed golf course designer, Carlton Gipson. Gipson has designed many great golf courses throughout the country. Mr. Gipson has designed the Oak Hurst course to appeal and challenge all levels of golfers. Oak Hurst has 5 sets of teeing areas so the golfer can pick the length of course that best fits them. The Oak Hurst course was featured in the Dallas Morning News article “Diamonds in the Rough”, which spotlighted great golf courses around the state of Texas that are not in metropolitan areas. Oak Hurst has also been awarded “Best Public Golf Course” by the readers of B-Scene magazine and the voters of Locals Love Us.com. Our driving range and practice areas were voted “Best Driving Range” by the readers of The Tyler Morning Telegraph. P.T. Cole Park is centrally located off of Vine Street, between Mockingbird and Lindsey Lane. This park includes picnic areas, shelter/pavilion, restrooms, playground and basketball/multipurpose court. New playground equipment was installed at P.T. Cole Park in 2002.
Pine Springs Golf Club, an 18-hole, par 72 golf course measures 6509 yards in length and was constructed in 1999. Located just outside of Tyler, this beautiful layout, offers a great, but fair challenge to golfers of every skill level. Our clients enjoy playing among the rolling tree lined fairways, scenic lakes, tall whispering pines, lush fairways, and the consistently near perfect large, undulating greens that the Club offers. Such a great golfing experience in this gorgeous country setting gives our clients the chance to slow down and admire the true beauty of East Texas!
The Wiggins family has been farming for generations. Plantation Pines is a 2nd generation family owned farm. The farm was started back in the early 80’s as a Christmas tree farm and blueberry farm, and grew from there. In 2017 the farm will become a 3rd generation farm, as the girl that you have seen grow up on the farm, Heather and her husband Burren Reed, will be running the show!

This well manicured residential lawn is a must-see destination, especially during the Azalea & Spring Flower Trail each spring. During this two-week event, the Pyron Garden hosts the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and is open to the public to tour the blooming azaleas, roses, trees, and more. From a gazebo, greenhouse, bronze sculptures, fountains, and a walking bridge, there are architectural and floral wonders around every corner. Since the Pyron Garden is a private residence, we ask that you visit during daylight hours.

Rose City Cycling is comprised of cycling enthusiasts and volunteers who support the cycling community. In 2023, Tyler Bicycle Club began its merge with FRESH Race Team to be the new 501c3 non-profit organization, Rose City Cycling. This organization will continue to promote and foster participation in Cycling to improve the overall health and wellness of our communities here in East Texas. We are eager to welcome new cyclists and engage our community providing opportunity to learn as a beginner or grow your skills as an advanced rider. Welcome!
Rose City Flying Clays is Tyler’s Shotgun Sports Center. Located in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas just north of the loop on County Road 485 in Tyler Texas. This facility includes 4 skeet fields, 2 trap fields, 1 5-stand field, a sporting clays course and a pistol pit. Rose City Flying Clays’ facilities are available for private parties, entertainment purposes, or fund raising events. They will do everything they can to make sure your experience is a memorable one. Rose City Flying Clays is now individually owned by Chris and Monique Dorsey. Their shooting facility is open to the public with individual, family and corporate memberships available. Rose City’s goal is a tradition of family fun and shooting sports in a safe & friendly environment.
