Mike Carter Field is home to the Tyler Junior College (TJC) Apache Baseball Team and serves as a venue for various community events and high school baseball games. The field features a well-maintained grass surface, bleacher seating for spectators, and a press box for media coverage. With high-quality lighting for night games, dugouts for the teams, and ample parking, Mike Carter Field provides a functional and comfortable environment for both players and fans. Built in 1938 under the Work Progress Administration Project…renovated in 1948 due to a fire and in 1991 with formation of the Tyler Baseball Commission…TJC baseball began practicing and playing at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field with the rejuvenation of the program in 1992…Tyler Independent School District bought the facility from the City of Tyler in 1998…host facility for high school baseball exhibition and playoff games coordinated through Tyler ISD Athletics…host facility for NJCAA Regional, District, and National Tournaments.

The 82-acre Nature Center was developed from a former game bird hatchery into an ecological education center. A visitor's center, indoor and outdoor classrooms, wetlands, grasslands and ponds provide a natural setting for area birds and animals. The facility and surrounding lands are available for use by instructors or other outdoor enthusiasts. Noble E. Young Skate Park was dedicated by the Tyler City Council and Tyler Parks & Recreation Board on October 24, 1998. Since its opening the skate park has been one of Tyler’s most popular parks. The park is a favorite place for local skaters, as well as skaters from across the East Texas region and the state.

Located off of WNW Loop 323. This park includes Model Airplane Fields for use by the public.

Oak Grove Park is located in northeast Tyler at the intersection of North Carlyle Avenue and East Vance Street, next to Douglas Elementary School. This neighborhood park features picnic areas, playground, basketball court and tennis court.

The Oak Hurst course was designed by famed golf course designer, Carlton Gipson. Gipson has designed many great golf courses throughout the country. Mr. Gipson has designed the Oak Hurst course to appeal and challenge all levels of golfers. Oak Hurst has 5 sets of teeing areas so the golfer can pick the length of course that best fits them. The Oak Hurst course was featured in the Dallas Morning News article “Diamonds in the Rough”, which spotlighted great golf courses around the state of Texas that are not in metropolitan areas. Oak Hurst has also been awarded “Best Public Golf Course” by the readers of B-Scene magazine and the voters of Locals Love Us.com. Established in 1849, Oakwood Cemetery is a Texas Historic Cemetery as well as the oldest city-owned cemetery in Tyler. As a public, city cemetery, it is maintained by the Tyler Parks Department. It covers approximately 8-1/2 acres and has over 2000 marked graves. The natural beauty of Oakwood's majestic Magnolia trees, pine trees and dogwood trees and in the Spring-bluebonnets, set the background for glorious walks through history. To enter, use the gate on Ellis Street. In the center of the cemetery, a kiosk holds information pamphlets that explain all there is to see and know about Oakwood.

The Oil Palace is a 7000+ seat (9000 capacity), 85,000-square foot LIVE concert and event venue in Tyler, Texas. The Wiggins family has been farming for generations. Plantation Pines is a 2nd generation family owned farm. The farm was started back in the early 80’s as a Christmas tree farm and blueberry farm, and grew from there. In 2017 the farm will become a 3rd generation farm, as the girl that you have seen grow up on the farm, Heather and her husband Burren Reed, will be running the show!

Rose City Cycling is comprised of cycling enthusiasts and volunteers who support the cycling community. In 2023, Tyler Bicycle Club began its merge with FRESH Race Team to be the new 501c3 non-profit organization, Rose City Cycling. This organization will continue to promote and foster participation in Cycling to improve the overall health and wellness of our communities here in East Texas. Rose City Flying Clays is Tyler’s Shotgun Sports Center. Located in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas just north of the loop on County Road 485 in Tyler Texas. This facility includes 4 skeet fields, 2 trap fields, 1 5-stand field, a sporting clays course and a pistol pit. Rose City Flying Clays’ facilities are available for private parties, entertainment purposes, or fund raising events. They will do everything they can to make sure your experience is a memorable one. Rose City Flying Clays is now individually owned by Chris and Monique Dorsey. Their shooting facility is open to the public with individual, family and corporate memberships available. The Smith County Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded in 1959 by individuals and business firms dedicated to discovering, collecting and preserving data, records and other items relating to the history of Smith County, Texas. They joined together in a rewarding effort to preserve the fascinating stories of Smith County’s past in the many areas of historical preservation pursued by the Society. The course has 18 holes with four tee pads per hole, suitable for every level of player, novice to pro. Shallow creeks come into play on 10 of the holes and there are significant elevation changes on many of the holes.

Southside Park is located just south of the intersection of Shiloh Road and Donnybrook Avenue. Parking is available on the street adjacent to the park and in a parking lot on the far south side of the park off of Rieck Road. This popular park features picnic areas, restrooms, pavilions, a large playground area, and hike and bike trails. New ADA accessible playground equipment was installed in 2019 thanks to Tyler Area Ambucs.
